These selections are only a few representative excerpts from letters addressed to the Administration. There are many more.

"Thank you all so much for your willingness to work with the students, parents and alumni to save the swimming and diving teams. Your decision to fully reinstate the team is a testament to the strength of the administration and your complete dedication to today's students. I am also proud of the way you were willing to reconsider your angle after making a definitive decision. It shows me that the future of our school is in the hands of people that will consider all options and can eradicate problems when they arise. I have restored confidence in the leadership of this school and I believe that Dartmouth will continue to be the strong community it was for me. I am proud to give back to this school and especially this program. Thank you again."

"Thank you very much for listening to the Dartmouth community and working constructively to save the swim team. As a former water polo player, I am hardly an unbiased observer, but I really think you did the right thing. As promised, I will send in my pledge for the swim team fund and look forward to returning to Hanover this summer for my class reunion without a bitter taste about the swim decision.
I am proud that we were all able to work together to help the school that we love."

"You're amazing. I am overjoyed and impressed that you listened to the community and decided on a reinstatement plan for Dartmouth aquatics despite the financial challenges you face.  I did not believe you would do this when I wrote my letter of protest, and I am still feeling not only humbled, but inspired to continue to do what I can in whatever I'm involved with to make a positive difference.
You tried harder to find a better solution.  No one will forget this.  You are role models.  Communities everywhere will lean on their institutions harder to save their aquatics programs.  'Dartmouth did it, so can you.' "
"Thank you to each and every one of you and to all who worked so diligently to accomplish the reinstatement of Dartmouth Swimming and Diving. It is truly a lesson in life that we should continue to work hard for those things that we value and are important to us no matter what the odds appear to be.  I thank all of those in administration for being open to the huge outpouring of support and for reconsidering what I am sure was a most difficult decision to begin with.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Thank you for reinstating the Dartmouth Swim/Dive program.  After reading the press release and the article http://www.dartmouth.edu/~news/releases/2003/jan/010803a.html my confidence in the administration regarding this matter has been restored. The administration's decision to reinstate the swim/dive program demonstrates a willingness to listen and consider the valuable input from alumni, students, parents, and those passionate about swimming and sports role in a well-rounded quality educational institution.  ...  It seems that there are angels."

"Bravo Zulu to all of you!  You have demonstrated the strength, caring and intelligence we have always believed were intrinsic characteristics of Dartmouth!"

"Thank you for having the knowledge and courage to reverse your decision, and to reinstate this wonderful program."

"First and foremost, I want to thank everyone involved for helping to restore what many people feel to be an integral part of the Dartmouth community. We all understand that often times difficult administrative decisions must be made and we welcome the opportunity to help make those less difficult.
All too often, we take for granted different aspects of our lives. It is unfortunately true that we never know what we have until it's gone.  I think these past 6 weeks have given all of us the opportunity to appreciate the wide breadth of positive influence that has been exerted by the Dartmouth swim team. The recent dialogue can only be construed as healthy and a necessary part of growth and understanding and can serve as an example for future similar issues.
Again, thank you for your consideration."

"Thank-you for reconsidering your decision regarding the swimming and diving teams. I believe that you have made the right choice and the continuation of these athletic teams will help maintain the atmosphere that makes Dartmouth such a unique place. "

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks for reinstating the Dartmouth swimming program. It had a long history of outstanding men's and women's swim teams and the Big Green swimmers always were strong competition for any rival Ivy League team. This was the right thing to do, and I thank you for doing the right thing. Now, the Big Green tradition of excellence can continue, hopefully, ad infinitum."
