Sale of prints to benefit historic farmstead

BERNARDS TWP – The Friends of the Kennedy-Martin-Stelle Farmstead have introduced a new fundraising project to support preservation work at the historic Farmstead.

Annette Novoa, a local watercolor artist and member of the friends group, has arranged to sell high-quality, limited edition prints of three different paintings done at the Farmstead.

Novoa and two other well-known local artists, Frank Pietrucha of Basking Ridge and Linda Arnold of Liberty Corner, are donating use of their paintings to raise funds to help preserve the Farmstead, an important Bernards Township landmark that is listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places.

The friends group envisions the Farmstead being used for cultural and art activities.

“Being an artist, history buff and the son of a builder, I was in awe as I entered the English barn five years ago,” said Pietrucha. “Here before my eyes was this structure, a fully timbered barn with mortise and tenon joins secured by pegs and made entirely of wood.”

Novoa proposed the print sale as the perfect way to highlight the connection between art and the bucolic farmstead setting: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for those who would like a way to support the efforts of the Friends of the Farmstead while also purchasing a beautiful limited edition print.”

Each print will be signed and numbered by the artist, and are being offered at $95 apiece. Samples of the prints will be exhibited at the Brick Academy in Basking Ridge each Sunday during museum hours, from 2 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling (908) 766-6103.
